Salford members joined hundreds of other Conservative Party Conference delegates to help the "Support Our Soldiers" charity to prepare Christmas and New Year care packages for our brave service men and women on the front line in Afghanistan.
Support Our Soldiers was formed in March 2003 to encourage and provide support for members of the British Armed Forces serving overseas and their families at home. Since that time, thanks to the overwhelming kindness and generosity of the British public, over 100,000 morale boosting care parcels have been sent out to those on the frontline, and countless families helped through the very difficult time with their loved ones away on tour.
Cllr Iain Lindley, Deputy Chairman of City of Salford Conservatives, said:
"I was delighted to have the opportunity to help out, and I do hope that the hundreds of packages made up by Conference delegates bring some festive cheer to our service men and women in harm’s way thousands of miles from home."
