Local Conservatives have welcomed news that the Government has awarded almost £4m in funding to help bring empty homes in Greater Manchester back into use.
The announcement, by Communities Minister Andrew Stunnell, means that the ten Greater Manchester authorities will be able to bring over 350 empty or derelict homes back into use for local residents.
Councillor Iain Lindley, Conservative planning spokesman, said:
"Empty properties are a blight on the City and our local communities, and the large housing waiting list makes the situation even more unacceptable. I'm delighted that the Greater Manchester bid for funding has been accepted and I hope that Salford receives a fair share of the award money"
