Residents and Traders Welcome Free Parking Plan

Shoppers and traders across Salford have welcomed Conservative proposals to introduce one hour of free parking at Council-owned car parks across the City. Local business owners in Monton, which has been particularly hard hit by parking charges, welcomed the proposal on Saturday in discussion with Conservative Mayoral candidate Karen Garrido.

Labour Councillors on the Planning Panel have voted to ignore the concerns of local residents and implement the planned lane reduction on the A580 East Lancashire Road. Local residents are set to face an increase in rat-running and congestion as a result of the changes.

Following a huge response from members of the public objecting to proposals to introduce a traffic order that would reduce sections of the A580 East Lancashire Road by a lane to accomodate the Leigh Misguided Busway, a meeting of the Council Planning Committee will be held.
